VIRTUAL Public Art Documentary Film Series: Leonora Carrington – The Lost Surrealist

March 11, 2021 @ 6:00 pm

Free

Palm Desert’s Art Documentary Film Series wraps up its 13th season  with an online screening of “Leonora Carrington: The Lost Surrealist.” British surrealist Leonora Carrington was a key part of the surrealist movement during its heyday in Paris and yet, until recently, remained a virtual unknown in the country of her birth. This film explores her dramatic evolution from British debutante to artist in exile, living out her days in Mexico City, and takes us on a journey into her darkly strange and cinematic world.

The 2021 documentary film series is presented by the City of Palm Desert Public Art Department and the University of California, Riverside Palm Desert Center. Register online in advance through the UCR Palm Desert Events website. You’ll receive emailed links to screen the documentary in advance on Vimeo, as well as a link to join the Zoom discussion about the film at the scheduled date and time.
