The Playtri Desert Triathlon celebrates its 21st year as the unofficial kickoff of the triathlon season. Desert Triathlon is the perfect race for both the new or beginner triathlete, and the experienced triathlete looking to shake off the winter rust. The event is situated on the calendar as the perfect warm-up to several longer distance races, including the 70.3 in Oceanside.
The Desert Triathlon event includes two distances and three different race categories:
Sprint Triathlon – 500 meter swim, 14 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
Sprint Duathlon – 1 mile run, 14 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
Olympic Triathlon – 1.5 kilometer swim, 40 kilometer bike, 10 kilometer run
Olympic Aquabike – 1.5 kilometer swim, 40 kilometer bike
