Pacifico Dance Company’s spirited and joyful performance program features dances from many different parts of Mexico – a country with a colorful history, rich traditions and diverse population.
Characteristics unique to each region are reflected in the music, footwork, skirt work, patterning styles, and costuming. Under the artistic direction of founder Adriana Astorga-Gainey, a first-generation American, Pacifico carefully preserves the traditional dance forms of the past, and creates works that vibrantly fuse the folk style with contemporary influences.
