The City of Palm Desert will mark our nation’s independence on Tuesday, July 4 with fireworks and food trucks at Civic Center Park. The evening starts with a concert at 7:30 p.m., then the sky will light up at 9 p.m. with a spectacular fireworks display synchronized to patriotic-themed songs.
Often appearing high on the charts, Jalisco, Mexico's large norteño group Banda Machos have, along with Banda El Recodo, paved the way for the la quebradita style in Mexican music, melding banda with ranchera and cumbia to create a more danceable approach to tradition.
Cast members from 10 valley schools range in age from 13-19. Sets and costumes will recreate the fictional North Shore High School where Cady Heron (Tori Mendoza) transfers after years of being homeschooled on the African Savanna. Trying to fit into “normal” teenage life in suburban Illinois, Cady finds herself caught in the popularity hierarchy of high school. With a plan to dethrone the Queen Bee, Regina George (Kaiya Treash) and her minions known as The Plastics, Cady is conflicted between enjoying the benefits of status and changing the status quo.

Peso Pluma, who was recently named one of Billboard’s Latin Artists on the Rise, has had nine songs on the magazine’s Hot Latin Songs chart including three Top 10s. He has collaborated with contemporaries such as Natanael Cano, Gabito Ballesteros, and Luis R. Conriquez, as well as expanding his scope by linking up with urbano figures such as Ovy On The Drums and Nicki Nicole.

Using our blacklights, we will take a short walk along the Art Smith Trail basin looking for the many nocturnal creatures that inhabit our desert. This is a family friendly event. Minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Bring water and wear closed-toed shoes
Friends of the Desert Mountains volunteer astronomers will be setting up their telescopes and are inviting you to stop by any time while they are there to view the ever-changing display of fascinating objects to see — stars, constellations, bright planets, moon and sometimes meteors. This is a family friendly event. Minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Bring water and wear closed-toed shoes.
