LP and the Vinyl sends pop and R&B favorites through a kaleidoscope of jazz, providing the best of both worlds: familiar songs dear to the heart, freshly intensified with beautifully mastered improvisation. In this special concert, the band will play tribute to Black History Month with a performance featuring music by Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Sam Cooke, Louis Armstrong, and Bobby Timmons.

Providing the evening’s events talent will be two accomplished and very well-known opera singers from Southern California – Joshua Wheeker, tenor, and his wife, Tara Wheeker, soprano. These real-life lovebirds will take your breath away as they celebrate the beauty of romance through music.

Peter Sprague: Planet Cole Porter

Guitarist Peter Sprague takes Cole Porter’s classic songs and presents them in a new color of samba, funk, salsa, and jazz. Come hear fresh and inventive arrangements such as "Just One of Those Things", which swings fast. Morphing over to funk, "Love for Sale" takes a trip to Cuba, while "Night and Day" arcs with a Brazilian moon. Meanwhile, "I Get a Kick Out of You" is heavily influenced by Eddie Harris’ Freedom Jazz Dance, and "Every Time We Say Goodbye" is as nice and gentle as Cole intended it to be.

It will be a very swinging evening of great jazz.
