Celebrating its 19th year of promoting recreation and the beautiful outdoors, the Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival returns to Palm Desert’s Civic Center Park on Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Presented by Friends of the Desert Mountains, the festival features skilled local artisans, shopping and information booths, enchanting wildflower displays and an exciting raffle. A huge interactive Kids’ Zone and “Naturally Inspired” youth art contest brings families from all over Coachella Valley. Local food trucks and beverage concessions will be available along with a beer and wine garden for adults. Live music performances will add just the right note to the festival, as well.
This FREE event is fun for all ages and helps promote education, environmental stewardship, land conservancy, and an appreciation of our fine Desert Mountains.
Friends of the Desert Mountains is also the coordinator for the Wildflower 5k Fun. Usually held the morning of the Wildflower Festival, but this year they are switching it up! The Annual Wildflower 5k Fun Run/Walk will be held on the following Saturday, March 14th at the La Quinta Cove. The course starts and finishes at the Cove Trailhead, following the Cove trails as it cuts through the palm oasis picnic area and continues onto the Bear Creek Nature Trail and the Fred Wolff Nature Preserve.
Civic Center Park is located at 73510 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert. For more information about the Wildflower Festival or 5K run, visit www.desertmountains.org/cvwf/ or call the Friends of the Desert Mountains’ office at 760-568-9918.
