Free Spring Concerts Return to Civic Center Park
The big music festivals may be gone until next year, but music lovers can still enjoy live music under the stars throughout May thanks to the return of Palm Desert’s Spring Concerts in the Park.
The excitement kicks off at the Civic Center Park Amphitheater at a new, earlier time, 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, May 5, with a performance by SantanaWays.
Dubbed “the ultimate Santana tribute band,” SantanaWays pays homage to the music of Santana by emphasizing the heart and soul in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band’s extensive musical catalogue. With their electrifying Latin and blues rock, SantanaWays brings to life the rhythms and sounds of music that reaches across decades and generations.
On stage from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. every Thursday in May, Palm Desert’s Spring Concerts will feature a variety of talented musical acts designed to please music lovers of all ages and tastes. Other concert series performances include high-energy 80s chart-toppers from Flashback Heart Attack (May 12), and crowd-pleasing country favorites from the Kelly Rae Band (May 19). The season will wrap up on May 26 with head-banging hits from Legends of Classic Rock, a band comprised of musicians who’ve played with White Lion, Ratt, Steppenwolf, Rod Stewart, Alice Cooper, Quiet Riot, Dokken, and Great White.
The kick off of the free Concerts in the Park series also means the return of food trucks to Civic Center Park. Concertgoers are encouraged to sample the trucks’ culinary creations or bring picnic baskets along with their blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the shows. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are prohibited at Civic Center Park.
Family YMCA of the Desert will once again be on hand to lead children’s games and activities before each of the four shows.
Civic Center Park is located on the northeast corner of San Pablo Avenue and Fred Waring Drive. For more information, please call 760-568-1441.
