The Palm Desert Certified Farmers’ Market is a community gathering place where local farmers can offer fresh agricultural and related products. Over 50% of the vendors are certified farmers, bringing their produce straight to you with no middleman. They are complemented by artisans and other vendors bringing handcrafted wares to the market.
The Certified Farmers Markets have offered the Calfresh/ EBT, (formerly known as food stamps) program option at each of their markets since 2011. They currently offer Market Match, California’s healthy food incentive program, which matches customers’ federal nutrition assistance benefits, like CalFresh and WIC, at farmers’ markets. Visit the market information booth for information on the Market Match benefits.
Parents and children can join in some artful fun at the Palm Desert Certified Farmers Market each Sunday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Art @ the Market booth. Members of the Artists Council and Artists Center at the Galen have organized weekly activities for children between 3 and 10 years old. Each week there is a different activity presented for children to enjoy from drawing, painting, watercolor, collage, and more. On Sunday, February 26, kids will learn how to make monoprints on a GelPlate with guest artist Micah Goguen, who is visiting the Artists Center as an Artist-in-Residence from Georgia.
