The free picnic, which is billed by the city as a chance to celebrate Palm Spring’s 50 neighborhoods and learn about organizations and resources available in the city, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ruth Hardy Park.
Attendees will enjoy live music, a free lunch provided by three Palm Springs restaurants and informational booths highlighting local businesses, city services and commissions, and local neighborhood organizations.
This year’s picnic will also honor City of Palm Springs employees for their commitment and dedication to our community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Other activities will include free balloon rides starting at 10 a.m., if weather is permitting, face painting and children’s activities organized by Palm Springs Parks and Recreation.
The popular dog costume contest will also return, with categories including “Cutest,” “Most Original,” and “Funniest.” Palm Springs Police Chief Andrew Mills also plans to challenge attendees to to a competitive game of cornhole at the Palm Springs Police booth, according to a release announcing the event.
